Caring for your new plants: 1. Prepare the ground for your plants before you receive them. a. Amend soil
for good drainage and moisture retention. b. To do this, add plenty of good compost. c. You may want to add
some rotted steer manure too. d. If you have sandy soil, add some peat moss as well. e. If you have clay soil,
add lots of sand. f. You may add a bag of outdoor potting mix if desired. g. Moisten the soil before planting.
2. Handle the Plants with Care: a. Open the package gently. b. Do not expose plant or roots to direct
sunlight. c. Keep roots in damp paper towels until planting. d. The sooner you plant them the better, don't
delay. 3. Planting the Plants: a. Plant on a rainy or cloudy day, or in the evening. b. Shade from
full sun for first week or two c. Keep moist for first few weeks while establishing roots d. Cover the roots
loosly with good soil. e. Don't pack it down hard, roots need air.
